DOHA: Cambodia overcame Pakistan 2-1 in their second-leg of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 Joint Qualification here at the Al Ahli Stadium on Tuesday evening to advance into the next round with a 4-1 aggregate win.
Cambodia had won 2-0 at home against the south Asians, who played their ‘home leg’ in the Qatari capital.
Pakistan had a good game and kept their opponent’s defence under pressure in the first half. Besides, Yaqoob Butt’s long throw-ins created problems for the Cambodians, who conceded the goal after Ouk Sovann handled the ball inside the box and earned a yellow card.
Hassan stepped up and easily scored past Cambodia goalkeeper Keo Soksela to put Pakistan ahead in the 18th minute. He then had another chance to score a couple of minutes later, but he shot wide.
Having won the first leg 2-0 last Thursday, Cambodia bounced back in the second half. They got the equalizer in the 64th minute with Sath Rasib scoring off a pass from Keo Sokpheng.
Cambodians also found the winner in the 89th when substitute Bun Heing Rong scored off a pass from Sieng Chanthea.
