DOHA: Al Ahli hoped to maintain their winning run when they take on Al Khor in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) here on Friday.
Ahli had defeated Al Sailiya in the previous round, and their coach Ruben de la Barrera exuded confidence.
“The victory over Al Sailiya in the last round was important. It wasn’t just about winning, but also improving our performance and continuing it at the same level throughout the game,” Ruben told QSL website. “We used the break to prepare the team well despite the absence of international players. We’ll push them hard for a win,” said Ruben.
Khor, who had also their previous match against Umm Salal, would be gunning for three points. They are currently fifth on the table with one win and draw.
“We’re ready to face Ahli. We could rectify a number of tactical errors during the league break. We had a friendly game to give opportunity to the unused players and make them ready for the forthcoming matches,” said Khor coach Omar Najhi. “I want my wards not to be over-confident after beating Umm Salal. Thank God, everyone is determined to provide a good show throughout the season.”
