NINH BINH: Al Arabi Sports Club continued their emphatic form to thrash Al Bahri Sport Club of Iraq 25-22, 25-15, 25-19 for their second win in the last eight round in Pool E at the SMM 2017 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Ninh Binh Gymnasium, Vietnam, on Monday.
Mohammed Ibrahim was the top scorer for Arabi, who were the runners-up at the last edition in Myanmar last year, with 12 points from 7 kills and 5 kill blocks, while German wing spiker Grozer Gyorgy added 8 points.
Safaa Lafta Majeed scored 10 points for Bahri SC.
Arabi are second in Pool E and will take on the third-place team of Pool F in the knock-out quarterfinals on Tuesday.
“We did a good job today. It was not a tough game. We tried to find out our way for an important game. Today, everybody in the team got a chance to play and it is good for us. Because the tournament is long, we need to get ready mentally and physically,” Grozer said.
“We need to recover and prepare for the next game,” he added.
Reigning champions Sarmayeh Bank also continued their amazing form, defeating Japanese side Toyoda Gosei 25-14 25-22 25-22.
