DOHA: Iraq international Mohanad Ali Kadhim Al-Shammari has joined Amir Cup champions Al Duhail for the new season.
Nicknamed Mimi, the footballer was presented by the club officials to the media on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old will be a focal point of the team’s attack alongside Almoez Ali and Edmilson Jr, after the departure of Yousef El Arabi to Greek side Olympiacos.
"Joinning Al Duhail is an important step in my professional journey. It's a great team and I hope to do well with them. We hope to win against Al Sadd and reach the AFC Champions League quarterfinals," said Mohanad.
During the presentation, Duhail coach Rui Faria said he was pleased to have signed the star but insisted there’s a lot of work left for the Red Knights this season.
"We're happy to have him. His presence will strenghthen our team," said Faria.
