Doha: Al Gharafa fought back to beat Al Arabi 3-1 and notched up their second victory in the QNB Stars League on Thursday.
The Cheetahs now have 10 points while Arabi stayed on six.
Former Qatar international Khalfan Ibrahim, who returned to action after missing two games, gave Arabi the lead in the 58th minute, but Ahmed Alaaeldin restored parity three minutes later.
Amro Seraj then added the third in the 73rd while captain and playmaker Luis Jimenez put the match beyond their opponents in the 85th.
Despite their 3-2 loss to Al Rayyan in the previous round, Gharafa started on a positive note. They went on the rampage from the word go when Amro Seraj’s rising shot was tipped over the bar by Arabi goalkeeper Muhannad Naim and then blocked Othman Al Yahri’s attempt.
But the team's win lost its sheen when Gharafa's attacking midfielder Vladimir Weiss, who started for the first time after recovering from an injury, was stretchered off at the end of first half after the Slovak felt acute pain on his right knee.
