Doha: Reigning champions Al Rayyan continued their unstoppable run to march into the Emir Cup final defeating Al Arabi in a thrilling second match in the best-of-three semifinal playoffs on Sunday.
Nine-time winners Rayyan had to face stiff resistance from arch-rivals Arabi before prevailing 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-13) in the match played at the Qatar Volleyball Association Indoor Hall.
Rayyan were tested by Arabi in the first match as well and had to play five pulsating sets (18-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 17-15) to get the better of their opponents.
They will take on Al Ahli in the final on May 12.
Ahli defeated Qatar Sports Club 2-0 in the playoffs to enter their first final in 22 years.
