DOHA: Former champions Al Rayyan stayed on course for the Qatar Stars League title after they notched up a 2-0 win over Qatar Sports Club here on Saturday evening.
Musa Haroon (16th minute) and Sebastian Soria (58th) scored the goals as Rayyan, who have 21 points, stayed second in the standings with the first phase ended.
With Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o and Ahmed Moein out of action, Qatar found it tough against their opponents.
Haroon headed home Rodrigo Tabata corner while Soria doubled the lead when he evaded the offside trap after Koh Myong-Jin fed him with a nice pass.
Qatar returned with a renewed vigour in the second half when Brazilian international Lucca Borges headed Mohammed Juma cross, but missed the target.
Al Ahli defeat Al Khor 2-0
In another match, Al Ahli picked up three points in their 2-0 win over Al Khor.
Abdelrahman Mohammed (44th minute) and substitute Ali Ferydoon (90+2) scored the goals.
Ahli took their points to 18 while Khor face relegation threat with just eight points in their kitty.
