FORMER champions Al Sadd ended their three-game losing streak in the Qatar League by beating Al Arabi 71-61 at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall last week.
The highlight of Sadd’s win was an impressive performance by their young point guard Moustafa Fouda, who scored a match-high 23 points.
Forward Allen Jeffrey West Jr grabbed a fine double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds.
For Arabi, Emmanuel Adako notched up 18 points and 12 rebounds while Osama Adel Mohammad and Adamu Saaka came up with 15 and 13 respectively.
The win was Sadd’s second in six games.
In another match, Al Ahli edged Qatar Sports Club 81-77.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Muftah was elected unopposed as the new Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) president till 2020.
Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Hitmi, Mohammed Ali Rashid Al Subaie, Ibrahim Obaid Siddiqi and Salah Al Atiq were elected as Board members.
In another decision, the QBF Board named outgoing president Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as honorary chairman for his efforts in promoting the sport.
