Doha, Qatar: QNB Stars League leaders Al Sadd have done a major transfer business in acquiring South Korean forward Nam Tae-Hee from rivals and reigning league champions Al Duhail SC.
The 27-year-old, currently recuperating from a ligament injury, will join the side at the start of the new season.
Nam, one of the key players for Duhail ever since he joined them in 2012, has won five QSL titles and two Qatar Emir Cup trophies. He was also the Qatar Football Association Player of the Season in 2017.
At Sadd, Nam will join fellow South Korean Jung Woo-young and Spaniard Gabi Fernandez in a star-studded midfield even though captain Xavi Fernandez has suggested that he would retire at the end of the season.
Sadd are currently two points ahead over Duhail with the 2018-19 season to resume on February 15 after a two-month break.
Their 2019 AFC Champions League season will also kick-off next month with Sadd drawn in Group D with Iran’s Persepolis, Saudi Arabia's Al Ahli and a playoff winner.
