Doha: Al Sailiya continued their free fall as two errors from defender Dragos Grigore handed Al Khor a 2-1 victory in the QNB Stars League on Friday.
After a barren first half, it was Sailiya who took the lead.
Abdel Aziz Mitwali’s clumsy tackle on Abdelkarim Salem in the 58th minute prompted referee Abdulla Ali Athba to point to the spot and Temurkhuja Abdukholikov sent goalkeeper Khalifa Ababacar the wrong way to make it 1-0.
However, the lead did not last long as Khor were awarded a penalty in the 63rd after Soroush fell inside the box under minimal contact from Grigore. Madson had no trouble converting from the spot.
Grigore was again at fault in the 84th minute when his attempt to chest down the ball to goalkeeper fell awfully short, allowing Helal Mohamed to run it down and lob into the goal.
Sailiya, who opened their campaign in style, winning six of their first eight matches, have won just one in the next 11 and are sixth in the standings with 25 points. Khor meanwhile, are ninth, with 18.
Earlier, Al Ahli piled more misery on Al Kharaitiyat with a 3-2 victory. Yassine Chikhaoui, Mohammed Muntari and Cristian Nazarit scored for Ahli while Kharaitiyat’s goals came from Rachid Tiberkanine.
Ahli are seventh in the table on 22 points while Kharaitiyat are 11th with just 13.
