Arabi, the runners-up at the last edition in Myanmar, had beaten Canberra Heat 25-15, 25-18, 25-21 in their first match.
Germany–import Gyorgy Grozer was again the key man for Arabi, top-scoring with 9 points, while Salvador Hidalgo Oliva added 8 points. Lee Man Sing and Lam Chun Kit scored 9 and 4 points respectively for Yan Chai.
“The tournament this year is a little bit harder than last year as there are many strong teams. It will be more difficult to win this tournament, but we will play our best to win one at a time and fight for the title,” said Grozer, who played for Shanghai Golden Age Club of China to claim the fourth place at the last edition.
Arabi will next take on Altay VC from Kazakhstan on Friday to decide the Pool C winners.
