Doha: Austria defeated Germany 21-18 to win the ISF World Schools Handball Championships boys’ title at the Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena here on Wednesday.
The German girls, who beat Brazil 33-26 in the semis, also ran out of luck when they lost to Hungary 17-30.
In the boys’ semis, Germany overcame Poland 35-30 in a high-scoring encounter.
The Austrian boys had beaten Israel 31-18 in the second semis.
The German girls made it double delight as they got past, who beat Denmark 27-21.
Chairman of the Qatar School Sports Federation Rabia Mohammed Al Kaabi and International School Federation officials gave away the prizes to the teams.
