QATAR international Khalfan Ibrahim was born in Doha on February 18, 1988. Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, he became the first Qatari to win the Asian Player of the Year in 2006.
Playing for Al Sadd in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) since 2004, the attacking midfielder was one of the stars when they claimed the AFC Champions League in 2011 under Jorge Fossati.
Known for his crisp passes and speed, Khalfan, who is Sadd’s all-time top scorer, however, has lost his accuracy off late due to a spate of injuries which kept him out of action both for his club and national sides since 2014.
Khalfan regained place in his club’s 1-1 draw against Al Shahaniya in the QSL’s 19th round and came off as a substitute to score against Al Wakrah last week, but he is yet to show the form that he had a couple of seasons ago.
