FORMER Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho started training with Shanghai SIPG in Doha last week.
The 38-year-old Portuguese has been without a club since ending his three-year spell with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco last August.
Portuguese media reported that Carvalho had already signed a one-year deal with the Chinese Super League club while coach Andre Villas-Boas said he was a worthy option and a final decision would be taken after the Doha winter camp.
Attacking midfielder Oscar, who joined from Chelsea this month on a £60m deal, his Brazil team-mate and striker Hulk, who had played under Villas-Boas at Zenit Saint Petersburg, fellow-countryman Elkeson, Uzbekistan captain Odil Ahmedov and Ivorian Jean Evrard Kouassi are currently Shanghai’s foreign players.
Striker Kouassi is expected to leave the club.
