RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil: After Qatar's stunning 2-2 draw against former champions Paraguay in Copa America on Sunday, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) has requested the local Arabs to attend the team's next two matches.
The reigning Asian champions and Japan are the two invited sides at the 12-team tournament that kicked off on June 14.
“In order to motivate the team players to produce outstanding levels of play, the QFA is keen to mobilize the Arab fans matches involving Qatar,” said QFA Director of Marketing and Communication Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari.
Fans will be urged to go to Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre – two venues where Qatar will play their next matches against Columbia and Argentina respectively, Al Kuwari added.
“The team distributed flyers in the Arab communities in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo with the aim of inviting them to attend Qatar’s matches as well as distributing the flags of the State of Qatar,” Kuwari told reporters.
