QATAR Cycling Federation (QCF) President Dr Mohammed Jeham Al Kuwari was happy with the success of Doha Triathlon’s inaugural edition.
The QCF, in partnership with TriClub Doha, and local sports marketing and management agency Tasama organised the event.
The race included Olympic triathlon disciplines of 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run.
“It’s a positive sign. There’s potential to develop triathlon locally and regionally for both Qataris and expats. We’re keen to keep building on this momentum,” said Dr Al Kuwari.
“TriClub Doha has done an excellent job in promoting the sport. I’m delighted that we could host a first-class Olympic distance and sprint event.
“The weather was ideal for the sport. The addition of an iconic race to our calendar expanded opportunities for athletes and general public to engage themselves in activities. It’s a healthy trend,” he added.
