Al Rayyan started their Qatar League title defence on a confident note by beating Al Ahli 93-75 at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall last week.
Addison Spruill top-scored with 22 points and Hassan Mohamed chipped in with 21 as the 15-time winners cruised home.
Ahli tried to match their fancied opponents in the first quarter and trailed by just six points (20-26), but Rayyan pulled clear thereafter and managed to shut their opponents without much difficulty.
For Ahli, Branko Ereminov and Elhadj Seydou scored 18 each.
In another match, Qatar Sports Club edged Al Sadd 74-72 as James Justice and Quentin Dogett shared the scoring responsibilities for the winners with 25 points each.
Sadd overcame a four-point deficit in the first quarter to lead 60-52 at one point, but Qatar SC stormed back into the match by scoring at will towards the end.
Mustafa Essam and Raymond Sykes scored 19 and 18 respectively for Sadd.
