FORMER youth coach Yousef Faredoon has been handed over the reins of Qatar's second team which will compete at the Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 12 to 22.
Faredoon had guided Qatari colts to the GCC Championship triumph in the UAE in 2011.
That team was led by Mubarak Dahi Waleed, who is now an integral part of the senior squad.
Qatar had failed to advance past the group stage of the Games’ last edition in Palembang, Indonesia in 2013.
“Obviously, reaching the knockout stage should be our first aim,” said Faredoon.
Former national players Mubarak Eid and Saeed Salem, Board members of the Qatar Volleyball Association, will also help the spikers fine-tune their preparations for the Games.
