LUXEMBOURG’S Olivier Godart won the men’s title at the Doha Triathlon last week.
“I was lucky enough to win the title. It was difficult, but I managed it well in the end,” said Godart.
Spain’s Aday Alvarez and Bahrain’s Abdullah Attiya came second and third respectively.
Dubai-based Godart started competing in triathlon only six years ago when he decided to spend his free time in sports. Since then, he has won numerous events in the Middle East, including the demanding TriYAS in Abu Dhabi.
“The weather was a bit windy and cold, but it was a great race. Thanks to the Qatar Cycling Federation for organising such a splendid event. It was also great to see so many local athletes competing,” the 41-year-old added.
Qatar’s Mubarak Al Ajji and Nasser Al Mohannadi finished 39th and 40th while Faisal Al Qahtani came 62nd from a field of 96.
Meanwhile, Spain’s Isora Caballero won the women’s title, ahead of by South Africa’s Carmel Lord and Romania’s Gerda Maria.
