AMATEURS Saleh Al Kaabi and Ali Al Shahrani will be eager to make the most of their outing at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
They earned their berth by virtue of being the top two Qatari finishers in the recent Qatar Open Amateur Championship.
Both Saleh and Ali had competed in the last year’s Qatar Masters as well, but failed to make the cut. Tough task awaits the 22-year-olds as no Qatari golfer has ever managed it at the European Tour event.
Saleh has been in good form of late and won the Saudi Golf Federation Open in Riyadh. The big hitter also finished as runner-up at the Qatar Open, where he had rounds of 71, 75 and 67.
“I hope to build on that success. Those two recent performances will hopefully inspire me to do well at the Qatar Masters,” said Al Kaabi.
Ali, who finished 24th in the Qatar Open, exuded confidence.
“I’m looking forward to the experience of competing with world’s best again,” said Ali, who had made his debut in the tournament in 2012.
