Doha: Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) President Khalil Ahmed Al Mohannadi (QAT) was appointed as the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Deputy President by ITTF President Thomas Weikert on Monday.
“I’m looking forward to continue working closely with Weikert over the next four years to take the world body to a more prestigious level within the international sporting community,” said Al Mohannadi.
“I really appreciated Khalil’s support as my deputy over the past three years since I first became the President. I’m looking forward to continuing this relationship over the next four years to grow the sport,” said Weikert, who was recently elected as the ITTF President in May.
Meanwhile, Australia’s 39-year-old Steve Dainton, ITTF Marketing Director since 2008, became the new acting CEO while Sweden’s Petra Sorling will continue her role as vice-president of ITTF finance department.
“Dainton’s long term vision for the sport, with an increased emphasis on commercialisation and growth made him the ideal candidate to ensure the ITTF can develop to the next level,” added Weikert.
