Injury rules out Rianna, Kiara from Doha Worlds

DOHA: Rianna Mizzen and Kiara Munteanu have pulled out of the Australian women’s squad due to injury for the 48th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships here.

“Both the gymnasts were earlier named in the team, but last minute injuries at training preventing them from travelling,” worldgymdoha18.com quoted Gymnastics Australia on Wednesday.

Erin Modaro has joined the team on their flight from Sydney as the fifth member to compete at the Worlds, which starts on October 25.

“We wish both Rianna and Kiara a speedy recovery, and congratulate Erin on her selection to the team,” said the statement.

This year’s edition will serve as the first qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
