FRANCE’S Mike Lorenzo-Vera had a decent outing at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters tournament where he had a share of the lead at one stage before finishing tied fourth. The charismatic Montpellier resident enjoyed a special surprise after the third round when he was presented with a birthday cake by fellow-European Tour pros.
The 32-year-old spoke about his interests on and off the greens.
Thoughts on the tied-fourth finish.
That was pretty cool. I played a very solid game. I put myself into a title contention at one stage and I’m pleased with that.
How special was the birthday cake?
It was a big surprise because there was absolutely no hint for me to see that. People had already said ‘Happy Birthday’ when I came off the green on the 18th hole. So I thought, okay, it’s going to be pretty calm, but it wasn’t!. Later, I had a chat with family on Skype.
