EL JAISH retained the Qatar League title by beating Qatar Sports Club 3-2 in their last match at the Qatar Table Tennis Association training centre last week.
“Our target was always to be the No.1 team and I’m happy that we’ve lived up to the expectations,” Jaish captain Ahmed Khaleel Al Mohannadi told Doha Stadium Plus.
“We deserved to win the title because we played really well and remained unbeaten. I dedicate this achievement to the club management, team-mates and fans. I hope we’ll be successful at the Qatar Cup and Emir’s Cup as well.”
Al Sadd finished second and Al Wakrah third.
Jaish Table Tennis Head Khalid Al Kuwari wanted the team to repeat last year’s performance when they wrapped up four domestic titles — Qatar League, Qatar Cup, Emir’s Cup as well as Singles and Doubles Championships.
“It was a great show. We had built a good squad with experienced players. We’ve a strong team and we can win other competitions this time too,” said Al Kuwari.
