DOHA: World No.1 Angelique Kerber heads a star-studded field for the 15th WTA Qatar Total Open to be held at the Khalifa International Complex from February 13 to 18.
The German will be joined by the likes of Agnieszka Radwanska, Dominika Cibulkova, Karolina Pliskova, Garbine Muguruza, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Johanna Konta among others for the $776,000 prize-money event, which will feature seven of the top-10 players.
Defending champion Carla Suárez Navarro of Spain has also confirmed her presence as the Spaniard hopes to join the likes of Maria Sharapova, Anastasia Myskina and Victoria Azarenka as the only two-time winners of the top-notch tournament.
In all, 32 players will compete in the singles and 16 in the doubles.
“It’s a great privilege to host these stars once again in Doha. Qatar has become a home for tennis and we're as usual ready to showcase the best the game can offer. All hands are on the deck to ensure a very successful tournament and it's our belief that this year’s event will be greater than the previous one in all aspects,” said Tournament Director Saad Al Mohannadi.
