THE Losail International Circuit opened its facilities to women cyclists to train for free on specific dates until June 13.
The ‘Ladies Training Days’ will be held twice a month, with only boys under the age of nine allowed inside the track during the sessions. Four days in a month will be open to all families and public.
The circuit had launched ‘2017 training days’ early this month with an aim to encourage healthy lifestyle among both residents and expats, with gates open from 4.45pm to 9.30pm.
A number of women participants took part in training programmes such as cycling 101, Zumba with curves and strength training with curves under the guidance of international cycling federation-certified coach Pia Sundstedt.
The officials in charge of Losail circuit said the initiative was aimed at providing female residents a platform and suitable venue to train in private.
Bicycles and gears are also provided to the participants, but they are advised to use the track in an anti-clockwise direction where they will have to use the inside track and overtake on the left.
The runners and walkers must move in a clockwise direction.
