Lions maintain roaring form

UNBEATEN Lions convincingly won in the third and fourth rounds of Qatar Sevens League, beating Phoenix 43-0 and Stallions 32-5 at the Aspire ground last week.

Lions, on 16 points,  share the top spot with champions Camels. 

Rumesh Hasantha, with two tries and one conversion, led Lions’ scoring against Phoenix. Jarith Chamara and Most Valuable Player Gihan Silva had a try each while Pium Jayasingha had one try and a conversion. Sharith Amit chipped in with two tries.

Meanwhile, Stallions routed Pirates 41-0. 

Rachid Boudala was the star for Stallions with three tries and two conversions while Sandy Dwili and Bilal ben Belaid contributed two tries each.

Earlier, Camels overcame Doha2s 19-7 for their fourth successive victory. 

Former Fiji international Orisi Sareki came up with two tries while Jope Tawaki (one conversion), Pita Twilagi (one try) and Hamza Saeed (two conversions) also helped the holders claim full points. 

“It was good to see both teams play an exciting match,” said Camels coach Usaia Biumaiwai.
