QATAR international Ahmed Maksoud joined Al Ahli from Lekhwiya on a six-month deal. He had spent the first phase of the season with Al Arabi.
The tough-tackling defensive midfielder is no stranger to Ahli, having represented them in the 2011-12 season.
Lekhwiya coach Djamel Belmadi is an admirer of the hardworking player’s attitude and skills, but let him join Ahli to ensure that Lekhwiya’s Luiz Martin and Maksoud both get plenty of playing time in the interest of the Qatar national team, which will resume their 2018 World Cup qualification in March.
Ahli have been busy in the January transfer window and had already signed forward Ali Ferydoon from Qatargas League side Al Shamal on a six-month loan deal.
