Starc’s ‘ball of the century’ earns praises from former greats

Doha: Australian left-arm bowler Mitchell Starc once again proved why is he one of the best after he bowled an unplayable delivery to dismiss James Vince on the fourth and the final day of the third Ashes Test in Perth on Sunday.

Batting on 55, Vince got a super quick delivery from Starc, which pitched on the middle and rattled his off-stump. The cricket fraternity including former greats took to twitter to laud the Aussie's amazing delivery.

"That’s called a JAFFA! What a delivery @mstarc56 you reminded me of my bowling days and I enjoyed it to the hilt! You made left armers proud! @CricketAus," former Pakistan great Wasim Akram tweeted.

England were battling to save the Ashes at 132 for four in their second innings when play was abandoned.

Needing to avoid defeat to stay alive in the series, the tourists still trailed by 127 after Australia had declared their first innings at 662 for nine in reply to England's 403.

"Ball of the  & the summer. Starc is on fire here at the WACA, " said spin legend Shane Warne while compatriot and former team-mate Jason Gillespie tweeted, "You are not hitting that with a barn door."
