The Qatar Cyclists (QC), a centre for amateur riders and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, has so far raised QR3m from its charity rides in Austria and Germany.
“We’re proud to be a part of Qatar Charity which has started building a school in Gaza,” QC Director Dr Abdulaziz Al Kuwari told Doha Stadium Plus. “We were also proud that 25 Qataris took part in the races.”
The centre also conducts races as well as training sessions and workshops for local bike enthusiasts.
“We explain the use of mountain and hybrid bikes among others besides organising courses. We also teach them safety precautions on the road and rider etiquettes,” added Al Kuwari.
With QC’s support, the Losail International Circuit recently launched ‘2017 training days’, an initiative to drive health consciousness among residents, with the circuit gates opening from 4.45pm till 9.30pm till June 14.
