Doha: Qatar beat Andorra 1-0 in a friendly at St. George’s Park on Wednesday, with Ali Asadallah scoring the all-important goal in the 73rd minute.
The match was a part of Qatar’s preparations for their two remaining FIFA 2018 World Cup Group A qualifiers against Syria and China on August 31 and September 5 respectively.
Qatar face Syria, fourth in the standings, at a neutral venue in Krubong, Malaysia.
Iran has already qualified from the group, with 20 points from eight games while second-placed South Korea (13 points) will battle it out against Uzbekistan (12) for an outright place in the finals as only two teams directly qualify for Russia.
Qatar and China, who are fifth and sixth, may still advance to the fourth round.
