QATAR have been drawn along with hosts Indonesia, Kazakhstan and a play-off qualifier in Pool A of the Asian Men’s Championship to be held at Surabaya, Indonesia, from July 24 to August 1.
Qatar had earned their best finish of fourth place in the biennial competition’s last edition in Tehran, Iran, in 2015.
The months from May to July will be a busy one for the Qatar national team. First, they will take part in the Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 12 to 22.
That will be followed by their second successive appearance at the FIVB World League (at various venues) in the third week of June. Then comes the Asian challenge in Indonesia.
Qatar will likely field a second-string squad at the Solidarity Games to keep the players fresh for bigger challenges.
The domestic season ends with the Emir’s Cup final on April 22.
