Doha: Qatar won gold in the men’s 4X400M relay to secure third position in the medals table at the Asian Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tehran, Iran, on Saturday.
While Qatar clocked 3:10.08sec, Kazakhstan finished in 3:11.68 to win silver. Hosts Iran settled for bronze after finishing in 3:11.74.
Qatar thus finished with four gold, three silver and two bronze. Kazakhstan won seven gold, four silver, and one bronze to secure top position in the table while Iran came second with five gold, nine silver, and 10 bronze.
Earlier, Bagharab Yaser Saleem won silver for Qatar in the men’s 1500M.
Yaser Saleem clocked 3:53.92 to finish behind Iran’s Moradi Amir, who touched the tape in 3:53.78 sec. Fahimi Ali, also of Iran, came third while Qatar’s Hamza Driouch came fourth.
On Friday, Abubaker Haydar Abdalla had won gold in 800M while Abdalelah Haroun reigned supreme in 400M. Mohammed Nasser also shone in 400M, claiming bronze.
