DOHA: Qatar are leaving no stone unturned as they prepare for the IHF Men’s Junior World Championship to be held in Algeria from July 18 to 30.
Qatar, coached by renowned Spanish tactician Valero Rivera, have been training in Doha after undergoing a two-week camp in Spain.
Qatar had lost to Belarus in overtime in the pre-quarterfinal in the last edition in Brazil in 2015, and this time they would be hoping to better that show, especially with Rivera, who guided the senior team to a silver medal at the 2015 World Championship in Doha, at the helm.
Qatar are clubbed with holders France and runners-up Denmark in a tough Group B of the 24-team tournament. Egypt, Slovenia and Sweden are the other teams in the group from which four teams will qualify for the round of 16.
Qatar will play four friendly matches, with Tunisia (July 3), Spain (July 5), and two against Macedonia (July 11, 12) at the Duhail Sports Hall before they leave for Algeria on July 15.
