Doha, Qatar: Aryna Sabalenka eased past Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 6-3 to move to the final of the Qatar Total Open in Doha on Friday.
World no.13 Sabalenka had to battle hard against Saisai Zheng in the quarterfinals where she had to come back from a set down, but in the last-four clash at Khalifa International Stadium she was hardly tested as Kuznetsova failed to find the form which she showed against Belinda Bencic in the quarter.
Kuznetsova had shown all her fighting qualities against Bencic on Thursday, but against Sabalenka she never really got a chance to come back.
Sabalenka broke Kuznetsova in the second game of the match and even though Kuznetsova replied in kind in the fifth game, the 21-year-old from Belarus broke her veteran opponent again in the tenth game to take the set.
The second set, at least the start of it, was an exact replica of the first, with Sabalenka getting an early break and that was all she needed to take the set and the match in just under 75 minutes.
