Doha: Alfonso Santiado and Zara Rahim won the boys and girls titles in the Swim for a Cause Open Water Swimming Challenge organised by Sharq Village & Spa.
Mekaal Rahim came second in the 250m race for boys while Jatnald Canaria finished runners-up place in the girl’s section.
In the 500m races for men and women, Omar Fawzy took the first place followed by Thiago Colomer and Iwan Briggs.
Geioria Twigg bagged the first position followed by Csilla Karolyi and Rishi Dronadula, in the women’s section.
“Swim for a Cause is an occasion to promote healthy lifestyle. We also take part in Water Safety Programme for kids in order to minimise drowning incidents in Qatar. The programme involves water safety education and how to react for emergency,” said Asela Jayaweera, Recreation Manager at Sharq Village & Spa,
The organisers had tied up with Qatar Charity while H2O swim club, Six Senses Spa, MAD Triathlon and Tri Club Doha were event partners in the competition which had featured 89 swimmers.
