The Motocross World Championship’s commercial rights holder Youthstream’s scheduling woes continue.
Though Charlotte Motor Speedway Track in the US was to host a round of the 20-leg series, it was dropped after both parties failed to agree on financial terms.
Now, the Italian GP in Maggiora, scheduled for June 25, is also in doubt.
“Maggiora is a serious problem for us. The organisers went to the court to make some construction on the green area and they’ve the papers from the local council. There’s an opposition to, as it’s in a green area. So the track has been closed. Everyone is scared when talking about the greenies,” confirmed Youthstream chief Giuseppe Luongo.
However, the organisers have the option of switching the Italian GP to a different track.
“We’ve a plan B. If Maggiora can’t run it, then the same promoter will move it to Mantova or another venue. If they clear up the paper, they’ll come back to Maggiora. We’ve have until the end of March to resolve the issue,” added Luongo.
