DOHA, Qatar: Four top Russian clubs Zenit St Petersburg, Spartak Moscow, Lokomotiv and Rostov will participate in the Match Premier Cup, tipped to become one of the major events in Russian football this winter, at the Aspire Academy ground here from Monday.
On the opening day, Spartak Moscow will meet Rostov.
The tournament, which will conclude on January 29, will feature some of the players who played in 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and is being organised in cooperation with Russian Premier League.
Aleksandr Erokhin, Yuri Zhirkov, Daler Kuzyaev (all Zenit St Petersburg), Roman Zobnin, Alexsandr Samedov (both Spartak Moscow), Anton Miranchuk and striker Fyodor Smolov (Lokomotiv Moscow), and goalkeeper Andrey Lunev (Zenit St Petersburg) were part of the Russian squad that reached the quarterfinals on home soil.
