Qatar have been drawn along with hosts Iran, China and South Korea in the Asian Zone qualifiers for the 2018 FIVB World Championship.
The draw for the Asian qualifiers, to be held in Tehran, was made at Bangkok, Thailand, recently.
Only the top two teams from each group will make the cut for the 24-team World Championship, to be co-hosted by Italy and Bulgaria from September 10 to 30.
The qualification for the 2018 Worlds is one of the main agendas in Qatar coach Massimiliano Giaccardi’s blueprint for future.
Qatar Volleyball Association President Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari was hopeful of the team making the cut.
“It’s a tough group, no doubt about that. But we can compete with the best as our team proved at the FIVB World League last week. We should make it to the Worlds this time. It’s well within our reach,” said Al Kuwari.
