Doha, Qatar: Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd kicked off their overseas camp with the first training session in Olot, Spain on Monday. The camp is set to last until July 29.
The squad reached Barcelona on Sunday evening before travelling to the Hotel Vall de Bas in Olot. The team trained on Monday under the watchful eyes of new coach Xavi Hernandez, who took charge for the first time.
Former captain and Barcelona legend Xavi who has made no secret of his big ambitions in coaching, took charge after Jesualdo Ferreira left at the end of the season.
So the new season will be exciting for both Sadd fans as well as Barcelona supporters who expect Xavi to coach the Catalan side sometime in the near future.
Fitness coach Ivan Torres focused on helping the players recover from fatigue and jet lag, before moving on to movement exercises. Later, the players trained with the ball, working on quick two-touch play.
The Qatari international players joined the team for the training session after a break, along with the trio of Gabi, Nam Tae-hee and Jung Woo-young.
